How does solar work?

Energy is taken directly from the sun’s rays by installing solar panels on your home. These panels will in turn absorb the rays and convert them to energy. For more information you can visit our solar 101 page.

What guarantees do you carry?

Depending on your preferences, you have choices. Several of our financiers have production guarantees regarding the offset of the system. Production guarantees are regarding how much power your panels produce, this way ensuring the panels will provide enough power for your home.

What if I need maintenance?

There are many options for maintenance and monitoring of your solar system, depending on which agreement you choose. Most PPAs offer agreements with this included, and there is the option to add additional maintenance and monitoring. You can start the process to see if you qualify for any of our options at any time.

Why go solar?

Switching to solar energy helps you save money, is good for the environment, is easy to maintain, increases the value of your home, and helps fight back against monopolies by creating more than one option for how you power your home. Solar allows customers to get a low, predictable monthly utility bill that can save most customers 20-50% on their energy costs year-round. Adding battery storage to an existing solar system allows consumers to have even more control over their usage as well as protect them during the seasonal power outages. See if you qualify today.

How much does solar cost?

We offer many choices that make solar a reasonable option for homeowners. Depending on how many panels you need and what your home looks like (tree coverage, roof slope, sun exposure), we’ll provide something that’s right for you. Our most popular option is a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). You also have the option to purchase your solar system.

What are my tax incentives for going solar?

Depending on how you pay for your solar system, you may be eligible to take advantage of renewable energy tax credits and/or rebates available from the federal government and the state of California. With increasing demand, it’s important to take advantage of these tax credits while they still exist.

Am I completely independent from my utility company once my system is installed?

Once your solar system is installed, you are still connected to the grid in order to store the power your panels generate. However, your main source of power is now your solar panels, so you are much less dependent on the grid.

If I’m still connected to the grid, will my panels still work in case of a power outage?

Solar is not a backup system, it’s a primary one. In most cases, your solar system is connected to a utility grid. Because of this, it does not guarantee your power will stay on in case of an outage. However, with battery backup storage, customers are able to capture the energy their solar panels produce during the day for use at any time, even during an outage.

How long does it take for me to get a system installed and working on my home?

This depends on the size and complexity of the system, and the laws within your county regarding solar. Our average time frame to have an operating solar system on your home after signing is 80 to 85 days.

How do batteries benefit me?

Batteries store the energy your solar panels produce which you can use at a later time, like during peak hours when power purchased from the utility is more expensive. Instead of being subject to the utility’s high rates, you can use the solar power stored up during the day. They can also serve as a backup source of power in case of an outage.

How does solar affect the value of my home?

Solar panels increase the overall value of your home. Exact numbers vary depending on installation size, property value, and location, but generally solar will increase the resale value as well. As electricity prices go up, which they inevitably will, the advantage of having solar energy on your home will also go up proportionally, making solar a good investment.

What if my roof isn’t new/stable enough for solar?

We provide a site assessment at no cost to you that will determine if your home is right for solar. If we recommend a reroof, this option is available and is incorporated into the overall cost of the system.

What are the benefits of having V3 install my solar instead of doing it myself?

At V3, our team of certified professionals are able to troubleshoot easily and make the process less time-consuming and more streamlined, saving you both time, money, and guaranteeing you a level of quality you will not find elsewhere.

What do I do if some part of my system gets damaged or stops working?

How many panels does the average system need?

What happens if I sell my home?
